Sparkling event for auld year’s night raises £1200 for M.E. Charities

Torchlight Procession 2017

UPDATE: Ticket Sales are now closed.

The Hogmanay Torchlight Procession drew in a crowd of over 1,500 people with many spectators lined up on along the way to watch the torches file past for a special start to the new year celebrations in Peebles.  Storm Dylan subsided in time for Peebles to ring in the New Year with a magical winter evening. Thank you to everyone that participated and joined in with the occasion including our brilliant pipers, MC and DJ!

We would also especially like to thank the marvellous, enthusiastic band of volunteers for all their time and commitment to keep everything running smoothly on the night. The event was only made possible thanks to the fantastic sponsors, with over 20 local companies providing crucial financial support for the event including Holland & Sherry, Stobo Castle, Harrisons Ford, Tontine Hotel, Brown Brothers, David Duthie, Cringletie Hotel, Evolution Bottling & Packaging Solutions, Tweeddale Rovers, Taite & Mapp Roofing, Sainsbury’s, Graham Mcgrath, Blackwood & Smith, Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Pipe Band, David Mitchel Decorators, Stardust Musical Theatre, Barony Castle, Tower Communications, The Park Hotel, Peebles Hydro, Thomson Gray, Renwick & Weir, PLS Medical Ltd, The Super Store, Elmbank Printers and Peebles Golf Club.

We’ve had lots of excellent and encouraging feedback from the event and over £1200 was raised from the event, donated to three charities – M.E. Association, Action for M.E. and Smile for M.E.

Thanks also to Scottish Borders Council and the Safety Advisory Group for their help in producing a smooth, safe and enjoyable event for all.

The Torchlight Procession is set to be staged every two years and return for Hogmanay 2019.
